The cybercriminals using the Weak WIFI of a TJX store in Minnesota to get into there system and stole Customer payment card details Personal information from return transactions and in total exposed 45 million to 94 million credit and debit card numbers.
The TJX Companies hack started in mid-2005 when hackers first gained access to the network. However, the breach wasn’t discovered until December 2006, and TJX publicly disclosed it in January 2007.he TJX Companies hack originated from a store in Minnesota, where hackers exploited a weakly secured Wi-Fi network to gain access to TJX’s internal systems.
They did it for financial gain and planned on selling all the data that they had to the dark web and them knowing that tjx had a outdated and poor security they were able to get in easily.
The attackers exploited weak Wi-Fi security at a TJX store in Minnesota to gain access to the company’s network. Once inside, they used malware and other techniques to steal cardholder data over a period of almost two years.
this attack was important because It was a wake-up call for retailers on cybersecurity vulnerabilities and the risks of weak encryption.
